Spatial viability of municipalities: Theoretical foundations and a comprehensive assessment scheme (using the example of municipalities of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia))

The article addresses the pressing issue of assessing and ensuring the spatial viability of municipalities in the extreme environment of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The research aims to develop an original methodological framework for a comprehensive assessment of spatial viability, tailored to the specifics of northern and Arctic territories. The work analyzes theoretical and conceptual foundations, factors, types, and contemporary methods for assessing territorial viability.

The disparity in development across the Volga-Ural region: A fragile semi-periphery

The issue of regional development in relation to the reproduction of human capital is becoming increasingly urgent every year. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the potential for redistributing human resources within meso- and macro-territorial systems. Using the example of the Volga-Ural macro-region in Russia, the main areas with varying growth potential are considered. Special attention is given to the semi-peripheral or equilibrium zone.

Growth Points and Development Nodes of Saratov Region

The categories of growth and development are being considered for transformation of the Saratov region’s economy during the last years. The assess of investment projects from the standpoint of quality of economic transformations has given, and also the spatial pattern of development of the region has shown. 

The Spatial Issues in the «Strategy for Socio-economic Development of the Saratov Region till 2030»

The key points of the Strategy for socio-economic development of the Saratov region till 2030 against primarily the spatial organization of а manufacturing industry are discussed. The proposed typology of districts is annalysed.
