1. General Information
1.1. The Journal Izvestiya of Saratov University. Earth Sciences is published 4 times a year, and it accepts articles with new original results in all the main sections of Earth Science.
1.2. The Journal is included into the List of leading peer-reviewed scientific journals and publications recommended for publication of the main scientific results of dissertations for the degrees of Doctor of Sciences and Candidate of Sciences.
1.3. The editorial board does not consider articles that:
- Are only application-oriented;
- Have been previously published;
- Have been accepted for publication by other journals.
1.4. The article should not exceed 16 pages, 5 figures and 4 tables The acceptance of longer articles is subject to the editorial board approval. The article should be carefully proof-read and thoroughly edited.
1.5. The authors should submit only completely original works to the Journal, and if they have used the works and/or assertions of other authors, this has been appropriately cited or quoted. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behaviour and is unacceptable. All the articles are checked for plagiarism using Rucontext of Antiplagiat.VUZ systems.
1.6. All the manuscripts submitted to the editorial board and complying with the Journal profile are reviewed (see Manuscript Review Procedure), whereupon the editorial board comes to the decision on the possibility of publishing them in the Journal. In case the decision is favorable the manuscript is subject to scientific and final editing.
1.7. The manuscript directed to the author to be finalized should be revised and returned at the earliest opportunity. In case a manuscript is delayed for over three months it is considered as a newly submitted manuscript. The edited manuscript should be accompanied by the letters from the authors with the answers to all the critical comments and explaining all the changes introduced in the paper. If the manuscript is returned to be revised it does not follow that it will be published; upon revision it will be reviewed again.
1.8. The author of the manuscript that has been accepted for publication will receive the editorial board decision and the license agreement. The author should sign and send two copies of the agreement to the address:
Saratov State University, Geographical Faculty, 83, Astrakhanskaya St., Saratov, Russia, 410012, "Izvestiya of Saratov University. Earth Sciences". Upon being signed at the University one copy of the agreement is returned to the author.
1.9. In compliance with Part 1 of Article 9 of the Federal Law FZ-152 “On personal data” of July 27, 2006, authors grant their consent to their personal data processing by any legally permitted method to Saratov State University (SSU), located at: 83 Astrakhanskaya St., Saratov 410012. Each author shall send a filled-in and signed Consent to Personal Data Processing form to the editorial board.
1.10. The work of the author (personal data subject) is included in the archive after the publication of the next issue of the periodical. The storage, arrangement, registration and use of archival issues, containing personal data is carried out in accordance with Part 2, paragraph 2 of Article 1 of the Federal Law FZ-152 “On personal data”of July 27, 2006 in conformity with the legislation on archiving.
1.11. The date of the manuscript receipt is the date when its final version is received.
1.12. Copyright. The rightholder is the author of the article, which owns the following rights (without restrictions), confirmed by License agreement:
- the exclusive right to the Paper;
- the right of authorship;
- the author's right to name;
- the right to the inviolability of the Paper;
- the right to publish the Paper.
1.13. The publication of manuscripts is free of charge.

2. Manuscript requirements
2.1. Structure:
- In Russian: UDC index, HAC scientific area, manuscript title, authors’ initials and surnames, information about the authors (name, surname, patronymic, scientific degree, occupation, place of employment, organization address, e-mail), abstract, keywords, manuscript text, acknowledgments, sources of funding (if applicable), bibliography;
- In English: manuscript title, author’s initials and surname, ORCID, information about the authors (name, surname, place of employment (organization, address), e-mail), abstract, keywords, acknowledgments, sources of funding (if applicable), references.
2.2. Information on the manuscript is given in a separate file: journal section, UDC, authors, manuscript title (in Russian and in English); information about the authors: surname, name and patronymics (full name), e-mail, phone (cell phone number or home phone number).
3. Structure of manuscripts
3.1. The volume of manuscripts (including a list of references) should not exceed 16 pages prepared in accordance with style file, or 16 typewritten pages (A4 size, margins of at least 2 cm type 14). Papers with more than 16 pages will be considered only by agreement with the editorial board.
3.2. The abstract should not contain big formulas, references to the text of the paper or to the list of references. English translation of the abstract should match the text in Russian.
3.3. Formulas not referenced in the text should not be numbered.
3.4. Picture format should provide a clear view of all the details, made in black-and-white.
3.5. Each table should be numbered in Arabic numeral, and may have a thematic title briefly revealing its contents. Column subheadings should be concise and informative. The units are specified after the comma.
3.7. The list of references should be treated according to GOST 7.1-76 "Bibliographic Description of Published Works." In the references numbering must follow the order of reference in the text. References to unpublished works are not permitted. The reference list should include only the works cited in the paper.
4. Electronic version guidelines
4.1. Formulas and text should be preferably typed in separate lines.
4.2. Different formulas should be typed in different dollar signs with a simple gap between them.
4.3. Sample reference structure: [1]; [1, 2, 4]; [1–5].
4.4. Figures in the articles should be accompanied with files in formats: JPG, TIFF, CDR, BMP (resolution - up to 600 dpi), and prints of the file pictures must be full size (the horizontal size of the field is 160 mm, label font in the figure 10-12).
Note. The date of submission is the date of receiving of the final version of the article. The manuscripts that do not comply with these guidelines are not registered and returned to the author without review. Disks and manuscripts are not returned.
